I think it is about time we had a thread to discuss all things Sherlock.
I believe that season 3 have now finished showing in America but I wont say too much just to avoid really spoiling it for anyone who hasn't already seen it. I will say I loved the Conversation Sherlock has with Mycroft at the end of his last vow.
How much time should we give US fans to catch up? Some of the TV threads on CoS gave fans about a week but placed spoilerific discussion in spoiler tags in the meantime.
Anyway, yes, I love the entire interaction with Mycroft in series 3.
Interesting that Mycroft's pressure point is his "junkie detective brother" whom he claims not to care about.
I also find it very amusing that in summoning Sherlock back to the UK, Mycroft rather breezily says, "And I hope you learned your lesson." I don't think Mycroft had any intention of letting Sherlock die on that Eastern European mission. We saw at the beginning of "The Empty Hearse" what happens when Sherlock gets in too deep. Mycroft will come to the rescue.
I do wonder, though, about the Moriarty at the end. Who is responsible for that? I prefer to think that the guy who blew his head off did not just come back from the dead. I know from Doctor Who that Moffat loves to cheat death, but Moriarty actually being alive wouldn't work, I don't think, in a modern London, no fantasy time-travel scenario.
So my favorite theory, actually, is that someone in Sherlock's family engineered the Moriarty computer-generated image. Some have theorized it could be Sherlock's mum. I like to think right now that it may have been Mycroft, finding a way to get his brother back to England. And that really is the tenor of his conversation with the officials. "England will always need Sherlock Holmes" - or something like that.
What do you think? THE GLITTELUTION WILL NEVER DIE! viva la glittelution!
A week sounds quite reasonable I think it showed on the 2nd? is that correct? as I live in the UK I am always surprised that we don't get the shows at the same time.
The whole family bit was just so funny especially when it came to Mycroft's name.
I can see Mycrofts weakness being Sherlock, as everyone needs a weakness I was shocked that Sherlock had so many .... Who or what is Redbeard?
The phone call at the end was funny "How is exile treating you brother?" "I have only been gone four minuets"
Now onto Moriarty: Do I think he is alive? no I think he will have known what it would lead to and he set something in motion to kick off if he wasn't around to stop it. plus this is more Moriarty's style. In fact I think he will have set more than one thing in motion. It was a very good idea to lock Moriarty in Sherlock mind palace it also suggests that Sherlock can also become the bad guy. I think we will see more of Sherlock's family it is such a good dynamic not to be underused. The baby that is on its way should provide a very interesting episode I look forward to see what mayhem a baby being board and even a toddler moving his stuff can annoy Sherlock. I really hope we see more of Mary's background and who she really was.
Yea that was pretty priceless Seeing how he used to treat Sherlock as kid. Man I would have wanted to beat the crap out of him The jerk.
But I am wondering... any decency he shows Sherlock aside, could he possibly be the one behind the reappearance 'so to speak' of Moriarty. Another member on a forum mentioned that and it made me think. Wouldn't it make sense that maybe just maybe the one person who seems to be decent (aside from Mary and John) to Sherlock ends up being his own worst enemy?
A little over a year ago this was posted and I have just read it now :).
The idea that Moriarty can be a family member. I can accept that but if it is it has to be one of the ones we haven't seen a lot of like their parents or another sibling that no one has said anything about yet.
