Any problems you have with the site, let me know here.

There are a lot of options the forum's software has, so there's a high chance I can fix whatever issue you are having.

I have already disabled captcha for registered users, for example.

Can't post any pictures. Tried using both bb code and html. Not sure if It would count as a technical issue or not, but I thought I'd let you know about it anyways.

Ok, I'll just try it myself.

Apparently this is the first image when I googled "Random Image" lol

Edit: Ok, this shows that it's simply a permissions issue. I'll get around to fixing this asap.

Edit 2: It should be fixed now. It would be good if someone checked though.

And Fawkes, this is exactly the type of issue I made this thread for, so that's for posting this!

There's this bar at the top of the window that's calling itself my "User Bar." When it's there, it doesn't let me click any links-- instead it duplicates itself however many times I try to click something. I can disable it every time I enter a page, but is there a way I can just get rid of it forever without having to do that every time I navigate on the site?

Iggy, any chance you can show me an image of this bar?

Sure, it's the thing in the red box.

    Thanks.

That's odd, I thought it was only me that had that bar cos I was admin. I actually can't remove it, but it works fine when I click on links.

It's not something I can remove unfortunately.

    Have you tried another browser?

Also, is anyone else having this issue?...

    Arry,

Tried to use smileys in that new Doris Crockford thread you made and they didn't work.

They showed up as : p, : lol :, etc., only without the spaces.

Yeah, it seems that unfortunately smilies won't work unless there is a space both before and after it.

    For example

    tongue
    will work, but
    :p.
    will not.

    Sorry about that...

How do I get my avatar to show, and how do I put in a signature? I uploaded an avatar, but it doesn't show on my posts, and I couldn't see where to make and post a signature.

    Hi Fleur!

You can find the information on avatars and signatures in this thread:

Thanks, Aaron! I'll go explore that link presently.

About smilies - do you want more smilies? I have a ton on AvenueViet that I'd be happy to share. Also, if you go to AV's "Test" subforum, you'll find a list of smilies that we (AV Admins and members) copied from all around. I've used some AV smilies in my posts here. I used to use them on CoS too, as did Bill (Muggle_Magic) - which is how someone - I think it was Mysterious - discovered that Bill was Peeves that time. He tracked the smilie back and looked at the names of members who could be dual AV/CoS members and were Hogsmeadians. <<== That, for example, is a CoS smilie.

You're welcome to any smilie that I have that you would want. smile

ETA - I went and uploaded an avatar but it disappeared again. I guess it was the wrong format (jpg) - I'll try again with a Gif file and see if it works. Will keep you posted.

I'll have to look into those smilies later Fleur - thanks smile

I do intend to tweak the smilies at some point, but there are a lot of them, so it may be a while before I do.

I have another problem: My "Private Message" box is blinking, and my email tells me that I have a new message waiting, but when I click on the PM thing, all I get is the old messages - the two from you Aaron, and my two responses.

I tried to send Diana (halfbreedlover) a PM twice, but it doesn't seem to have gotten there.

Anyway, it's almost 4 am now, I'm off to bed. See you all soon. smile

You'll need to refresh to stop the blinking of "Private Messages". If it's still blinking, I don't know what's going on :/

OK it stopped blinking now. But I can't find out how to SEND a message without it being a response to another message. My two messages to Halfbreedlover seem to have gone into cyberspace - and it's too late at night (or early in the morning) to worry about it now.

Off to bed with me (it's only the second time I say this in the last half-hour, LOL.

The only way I have discovered to send a PM is to find a post of theirs and press the PM button below their post. I'll look to see if there are any alternatives.

Edit: On clicking 'Private Messages' at the top of the page, a new window will open. There will be a list of options at the top of this new page:
    [ Inbox(#) | Sent(#) | Send PM | My profile ]
You can press Send PM from there. You will have to manually enter their name though.

Another option to load the member you wish to send a PM to's profile, and there is an option to the right of that window to send a PM

Is there a way to see a backlog on the chat box or change the number of comments displayed on it. I have a bad habit of commenting and then getting distracted and then when I come back want to see if people replied but I can't with the limited number of chats displayed. sad If not no biggie, it's totally me and my ADD, but thought I would ask smile

There may be a spam or even malware when one first gets to the home page of this site. It happens to me both on my laptop and my desktop.

When the home page loads, a square appears on the upper right side, with several alternating messages. The first one is usually to tell me to upgrade FlashPlayer - I tried it, it was a scam, don't do it! - I had to do a "system restore" to get rid of all the traxh I got - and the next message is "Your computer is about to crash, click here to solve the problem". Needless to say, I didn't click there.

The square disappears after I log in.

I wanted to know whether someone else has the soame problem, and warn them not to download the so-called update.
